7. In the Field
Hog Rush Vehicles are outfitted with IR headlights that allow us to switch off all lights and travel in total darkness (on private land)utilizing helmet mounted Night Vision. We have 4wd Suburbans outfitted with silencer mufflers as well as Golf Carts for the ultra stealth approach. Each has its pros and cons. In Alabama it gets hot and humid even @ night, so riding in A/C comfort is a big plus.
Our approach is simple. Go locate the hogs and kill every one we encounter. If we see 5...we kill 6.
The Hog Rush Trucks are outfitted with PAN/TILT FLIR Thermal cameras. The image is displayed on the HOG RUSH Laptop mounted in the Truck. This allows us to be very efficient and cover thousands of acres each night. This allows us a much better chance of Killing multiple Hogs. When detected, we verify Hogs with Night vision and walk on them. We then exit the Truck, walk on the Hogs and shoot them with suppressed AR15 rifles equipped with Thermal scopes. All recorded to DVR. Typical shots can be as close as 40 yds. and as far as 150 yds.
This approach allows us to cover a lot of ground in less time providing a better opportunity to harvest a Hog.
